METAR and TAF

METAR and SPECI report observed aerodrome conditions, while TAF describes the expected changes over the forecast validity period. Together they form the core airport weather briefing.

OPMET hazard areas

OPMET provides operational messages about significant en-route weather. The globe combines georeferenced SIGMET, AIRMET and GAMET areas with their validity periods so crews can assess hazards along a route.

  • AIRMET: hazardous conditions relevant to lower-level operations
  • GAMET: area forecasts for low-level flights

BUFR products

The CKS loader decodes WMO BUFR messages into time-aware georeferenced lines, polygons and points. The preview focuses on route-scale synoptic layers; the full portal also provides point objects for tropopause and volcanoes.

  • Fronts: type, position, direction and speed of movement
  • Cloud areas: type, coverage, base and top flight levels
  • Jet streams: axis, flight level, wind speed and isotach limits
  • Turbulence: intensity and affected flight-level range
  • Tropopause: flight level and local high/low features
  • Volcanoes: name, position, feature time and cloud motion

GRIB forecast fields

GRIB provides regular forecast grids for numerical weather models. The map shows NOAA surface temperature, while the portal also provides the complete set of available GRIB weather fields.

Space weather

Space-weather products describe the ionosphere, solar wind and geomagnetic response that can affect GNSS navigation, HF radio and satellite operations. The globe shows the WFS forecast of ionospheric total electron content (TEC).

  • WFS: 48-hour forecasts of TEC, NmF2 and HmF2
  • WRS: near-real-time ionosphere nowcasts every five minutes
  • WSA-Enlil: solar-wind speed, density and CME propagation
  • SWMF: ground magnetic disturbance ΔB and modeled Kp activity
